If you go to a Redskins game at FedEx Field this season, you’ll have a little bit more room to move around.
According to the Washington Post, the Skins removed around 10,000 upper deck seats after not being able to sell them to fans on the season ticket waiting list, which right now numbers around 150,000.
Lon Rosenberg, VP of operations at FedEx Field, said they offered these seats to those on the list, and that “these are seats that they were not wanting to buy,” and that the seats removed were “the least desirable seats in the stadium.”
Rosenberg added that fewer seats will mean less traffic and shorter lines for concessions.
There’s no word yet on what will replace the seats. There were discussions that standing-room only party decks would be installed so fans could have another place to gather, but nothing official has been announced.
The new seating capacity of FedEx Field will be around 82,000. Before, it was at 91,704, which made it the second-largest stadium in the NFL.
