All 100 Metrorail cars pulled from service earlier this month can return to the rails, the transit agency said.
Metro announced Tuesday that it has completed the inspection and repair of the door motors on its Series 4000 rail cars.
Concerns raised about the risk that a possible short in circuitry on the cars could open doors while trains were in motion prompted Metro officials to remove the fleet of 100 cars from service on July 2.
Metro Assistant General Manager David Kubicek said earlier this month that the move wasn't prompted by a specific incident, but Metro was able to simulate such an incident in a rail yard test.
Metro's rail fleet consists of 1,120 rail cars with 60 to 70 of the 4000 series rail cars in service on an average weekday.
