2 Teenagers Shot in Movie Theater Parking Lot: Prince George's County Police

The incident occurred on National Cinema Day, a theater in Alexandria was also threatened by a man

A shooting was reported in the parking lot of mall outside of an AMC theater in Largo, Maryland on Saturday, the Prince George’s County Police said.

Two teenagers were shot in a movie theater parking lot in Largo, Maryland, on Saturday, authorities say.

Police were called to reports of a shooting at the Boulevard at the Capital Centre Mall at 11:15 p.m.

A teenaged girl was found shot outside the theater. She was taken to a hospital with not life-threatening injuries, a Prince George's County police spokesperson told News4.

A teenaged boy later arrived on his own at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The medical center is across the street from the theater. Police later determined his injuries were connected to the shooting.

The Prince George’s County police initially reported that two people were shot inside the AMC Magic Johnson Capital Center 12 Theatre. They later clarified that the shooting was in the parking lot and not in the theater.

Police also reported one person was injured while running away from the scene.

The incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

At AMC Hoffman Center 22 Theatre, located on 200 Block of Swamp Fox Road in Alexandria, Virginia, police responded to reports of a "threat to harm" at 6:30 p.m., according to the Alexandria Police.

During the incident, a man walked into the theater and made threats that caused people to run from the theater. Some individuals were injured in the hurried exit.

Police said they have a man in custody and that there is no threat to the theater.

The Alexandria theater canceled the rest of their shows on Saturday evening.

Saturday was the first ever National Cinema Day, where moviegoers could get $3 move tickets at AMC and other theaters across the United States.
