President Obama Hints at Staying in DC at End of Term

It isn't the first time rumors have swirled about the first family staying in the capital

Could the Obamas be house-hunting in D.C. soon?

President Barack Obama said Thursday his family may stay in Washington "a couple of years" so his younger daughter doesn't have to change high schools, NBC News reports

The president was asked at a lunch in Milwaukee whether his family plans to return to Chicago after his term ends Jan. 20, 2017.

"You know, we haven't figured that out yet," he said. "We're going to have to stay a couple of years in D.C. probably, so that Sasha can graduate. 'Cause transferring somebody in the middle of high school ... tough."

Sasha, 14, attends the elite Sidwell Friends School in Northwest D.C.

Rumors circulated in January that the Obamas were looking at condos in CityCenterDC.

Mayor Muriel Bowser said then that she would love to see the Obamas stay in town. Asked if the District needs another motorcade, Bowser replied, "Are you kidding? Do we want President Barack Obama to live in Washington, D.C.? You bet."
