D.C. police have made an arrest in two assaults on women, including the brutal beating and stabbing of a 24-year-old in Northeast last week.

Police arrested Demarco Myles, 19, of the 5300 block of 4th Street NW on Friday and charged him with assault with the intent to commit first-degree sexual assault while armed.

Police say that Myles was the man who forced his way into a Rhode Island Row apartment at about 2 p.m. Oct. 26 and attempted to sexually assault a woman before beating her, kicking her, and stabbing her at least 25 times.

“He was just stabbing me everywhere, over and over again,” the victim told News4 at the hospital where she is recovering Thursday.

Police and the victim say they believe the attacker left her for dead.

“Because there was a lot of blood, and I don’t think he knew where he stabbed me,” the victim said. “I think it seemed like I was going to die."

Security cameras captured pictures of the man on the elevator inside the building, and police put those pictures on fliers they passed out.

Rhode Island Row has three levels of security. You need a key card to get in the front door, a key card to get on the elevator and a key card to get into an apartment. It appears the man followed a resident into the building and another resident swiped a card to allow him on the elevator.

He got in the apartment by knocking on the door and saying he was inviting the woman to a party.

Authorities have also charged Myles with a second sexual assault in addition to the Rhode Island Row attack. Police say that Myles attacked a woman in a Howard University dorm room this past Friday and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault while armed in that attack.
