An hourslong standoff ended early Thursday when police detained a man who had hopped on rooftops and refused to come down in the Brightwood Park neighborhood of Northwest D.C., police said.
The man was taken into custody peacefully at about 1:30 a.m., D.C. police said following a nine-hour, 30-minute standoff. Police didn't immediately name him or say what charges he may face.
Authorities had tried to take the man into custody since about 5 p.m., after they were originally called to the 1200 block of Jefferson Street NW near Georgia Avenue for reports of shots fired.
Officers found a naked man, who eventually dressed, trying to swing on power lines and walking back and forth on porch roofs. Police said they recovered a gun at the scene.
