A section of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will be partially closed until next summer to fix damage caused by work on a nearby memorial, the National Park Service said Monday.
About 30 feet of the Reflecting Pool will be drained Sept. 8 to allow for removal and reconstruction of part of the pool basin.
The north-south walkway between the Reflecting Pool and the World War II Memorial will be closed. The work is expected to be completed in summer 2016.
Work done at the World War II Memorial in 2013 caused the damage to the Reflecting Pool, the National Park Service said.
Visitors still will be able to use the elm walk along the sides of the Reflecting Pool, and 95 percent of the pool will remain open.
