Parking Enforcement for D.C. Streetcars Begins Mon.

If you’re going to be near the streetcar route Monday, you’re going to want to pay attention to where you park. Parking enforcement will begin Monday for the streetcars that will run up and down H-street between Union Station and Benning road in Northeast. New4’s Molette Green has more.

As the District of Columbia prepares for streetcar service later this year along H Street and Benning Road, drivers are being warned to park carefully.

Ticketing begins Monday along H Street from Union Station to Benning Road. The best advice if you are driving in the area: Don't block the streetcar tracks.

When parking, vehicles must be within the white lines to give streetcars traveling though the area enough clearance to pass by safely.

Violators will receive $100 tickets for parking illegally on streetcar tracks.

The enforcement clears the way for testing the rest of the summer, with service to begin by the end of the year.
