1 Dead in Car Accident Near Key Bridge

Car overturns shortly before 5 a.m.

Authorities said the driver of a 2008 BMW was speeding over the Key Bridge when it hit a curb and rolled over several times.

Outbound traffic on the Key Bridge was diverted Sunday morning after a fatal accident caused a car to overturn near the Key Bridge Marriott.

Investigators say the accident happened just before 5 a.m. Law enforcement sources tell News4 that three men in their 20s were inside the 2008 BMW, which was speeding over the Key Bridge when it hit a curb and rolled over "four or five" times.

One of the men, identified as Sami Ullah, of Leesburg, has died. The other two victims are at George Washington University Hospital. Their condition and the extent of their injuries is not known.

Sources told News4 that the car was traveling at "about 80 or 90 miles per hour" at the time of the accident.

Police diverted traffic from the outbound side of the Key Bridge onto the George Washington Parkway while the scene was being investigated. The scene was finally cleared shortly before noon.
