Md. Health Exchange Severs Ties With Noridian

Maryland's health exchange board has voted to end the role of Noridian Healthcare Solutions as the prime information technology contractor for the defective exchange.

State officials made the announcement Monday as a legislative panel convened to hear an update on efforts to fix the exchange.

Exchange officials say they will transition the role of prime IT contractor to Optum/QSSI. That's the general contractor that the exchange hired in December.

The exchange says Optum/QSSI will bring additional IT expertise to the project. Exchange officials say the company will contract with key existing subcontractors to improve and maintain the current technology in the short term.
