A dump truck struck an overhead sign on Route 295 at Pennsylvania Avenue in Southeast on Monday, causing a portion of the sign to dangle over the roadway.
Two lanes of northbound 295 were closed with only one lane getting by due to the overhead sign, which was hanging down over the roadway. Wires also were down. The exit to Pennsylvania Avenue also was closed.
The closures were cleared by about 6 p.m.
There were no initial reports of injuries.
Officials are telling motorists to avoid the area if possible.
