Day After Scoff, Obama Visits Daughter's School

Obamas head to Bethesda campus

WASHINGTON -- Maybe this was why he was upset classes were canceled...

A day after President Barack Obama publicly teased school officials for shutting down classrooms because of wintry weather, he and his wife visited their younger daughter at her school for what the White House press office said was a "class presentation."

Obama and his wife, Michelle, left the White House in the presidential motorcade around 8 a.m., for a ride to the Bethesda, Md., campus of Sidwell Friends School, a private school that 7-year-old Sasha attends.

Neither Sasha nor her older sister, 10-year-old Malia, could be seen by reporters in the motorcade, indicating they likely were already in class when their parents arrived. Malia attends school at the D.C. campus of Sidwell Friends.

Obama ridiculed local officials Wednesday for closing school, saying "we're going to have to apply some flinty Chicago toughness to this town."
