Hundreds of Occupy DC protesters have headed home for the holidays, but approximately a hundred still remain.
The protesters in McPherson Square have a medic tent set up, and doctors and nurses regularly stop by to volunteer. But for the next two weeks, their medical assistance will be nearly non-existent.
The only regular medic during the holiday and beyond is Laura Potter who won't admit it, but is viewed as a big sister to the movement.
"I really feel like I'm needed here," she says.
Since the protests began Potter had her laptop stolen, and she got pneumonia from braving the rain and cold weather. But she says she's not going away, even on Christmas because she wants to serve the others.
"At first it was political," she says. "But now I'm more medical than I am political."
