Maryland High School Football Coach Accused of Inappropriate Contact With Student

The head coach of a Maryland high school football team is on leave after he was accused of having inappropriate interaction with a student.

The head coach of a Prince George's County high school football team is accused of having an inappropriate interaction with a student.

Tarrell Carlos Lockwood was placed on leave at DuVal High School in Lanham pending an investigation into the alleged inappropriate contact, school officials said in a letter sent to parents Wednesday.

Prince George's County police said the alleged contact was nothing physical and it involved a female student.

Lockwood has not been criminally charged at this time, but police are investigating.

Child Protection Services has also launched a separate investigation.

Lockwood serves as the head coach for the school's varsity football team and the in-school suspension coordinator.

A source close to the investigation said the investigation involves inappropriate text messages.
