A man fell onto the tracks at Farragut North Friday, and two other Metro riders sprang into action, pulling him back onto the platform as a train approached.
It happened around 1:30 p.m., when an older man stumbled onto the tracks.
Michael Schearer of Glen Burnie, Md., was on his way to Union Station, waiting on the platform. That's when a mundane commute became anything but.
"I don't know if he just stumbled [but] he just fell on the tracks," Schearer said.
As the train entered the station, he and another rider jumped down and pulled the man to safety. "We just tried to get him off the tracks as fast as possible."
The man was injured, and Schearer and other rider stayed with him until help arrived. The man who fell was transported to a hospital.
After that, the two rescuers went their separate ways.
