STEM students from a Virginia high school won Samsung's national Solve for Tomorrow contest.
The team from Loudoun Valley High School won one of the three judges' awards and will receive $120,000 in Samsung technology and $9,700 in Adobe software for STEM education at the school.
The team will take two representatives from the STEM club to Washington, D.C., from April 26-28 to attend a kickoff dinner, meet with Virginia senators and representatives, and attend an award luncheon.
The team won for its solar-powered trail safety system that will allow students and their families to notify police if they are in danger on the Washington Old Dominion Trail or any other trail.
