A shooting investigation has closed the northbound lanes on I-95 after a man was found shot outside of a car at about 4 a.m. on Monday, according to police.
Maryland State Police are trying to figure out who shot a man on Interstate 95 early Monday morning.
The 28-year-old victim was found before dawn on the shoulder of the highway near the Prince George's/Howard County line. He'd been shot multiple times.
Traffic was stopped and diverted for hours during the morning commute as police investigated.
Police don't believe it was a case of road rage, but they're still trying to figure out what happened. The suspect and the victim did know each other before the shooting, an officer said. They were in two different vehicles when an altercation broke out and the suspect allegedly fired five times from their car and drove away, police said.

Police said the victim was able to call 911 himself. First responders found him outside his car near Brooklyn Bridge Road in Laurel, Maryland, about 4 a.m.
The victim was taken to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
The shooting investigation closed the northbound lanes of I-95, causing major traffic delays for several hours. Police redirected morning commuters to southbound lanes to help with the traffic.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
