After all these years, what's a few more weeks?
It will be several more weeks before the House votes on the D.C. voting rights bill, despite hopes to bring it to the floor by next week.
The bill was not added to next week's schedule, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's office said. After next week, the House will recess for two weeks.
The measure would give one House seat to D.C. and one to Utah.
Stephanie Lundberg, a spokeswoman for Hoyer, said they hope to bring the bill to the floor in late April after Congress reconvenes.
Hoyer, D-Md., has delayed a vote on the bill for the past three weeks over concerns that gun rights advocates will try to force an amendment to weaken the city's gun control laws.
