A couple from Madagascar visiting family in Bethesda, Maryland, was located nearly two days after leaving their grandson's soccer game and disappearing.

Maminirina Richard Randrianarison, a 68-year-old man, and Lalao Jeanne Ravohitra Rajaonarison, a 63-year-old woman, were found safe and unharmed, Montgomery County police said Monday.

Details on how they were found were not immediately released.

Randrianarison and Rajaonarison had been last seen leaving the 5000 block of Sentinel Drive in Bethesda on Oct. 15 at around 2:30 p.m., according to Montgomery County police.

Their daughter, Hajalalaina Consuella Rabearivony, said they attended their grandson’s soccer game at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda on Saturday before they went missing.

"They watched the game. My mom has a health condition, so she stayed in the car, and my dad stayed in the car with her," Rabearivony said.

She said her parents left in her car at about 12:15 p.m. to return to her home several minutes away. Her mom needed to take her medication.

"When we came here, they were supposed to be already at home, but they were not home. The car was not there," Rabearivony said.

Family and friends posted hundreds of fliers in the area when the couple never came home. They did not have a cell phone.

“No water, no food, no credit card, no cash,” Rabearivony said.

She said they would not have gone somewhere without telling her. She believed they may have gotten lost, but with each passing hour, she was more and more worried.

“We are very concerned and especially because she has a health condition,” Rabearivony said.

The couple speaks French and Malagasy, a language from Madagascar.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, Montgomery County police said the couple had been found "safe and unharmed," but police did not offer further details.
