Concert for Valor: Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, More to Perform at National Mall on Veterans Day

Also expected: Jamie Foxx, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Meryl Streep

Some big names will pay tribute to American veterans on the National Mall this Veterans Day, including Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood and Metallica -- and yes, the concert is free.

HBO and Starbucks are putting together the Concert for Valor to honor U.S. veterans and their families on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

The talent line-up also includes Eminem, Dave Grohl, John Oliver, and Zac Brown Band.

Jamie Foxx, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Meryl Streep are also expected to make an appearance. Hanks is also one of the show's executive producers.

If you can't make it to the National Mall, you can catch the broadcast on HBO instead. HBO said that non-subscribers can still tune into the event, because HBO will offer an opportunity to its affiliates to open the signal.

Event planners hope the event will raise awareness for veterans' service organizations to help vets with reemployment, reintegration, wellness and education.

"This event will not only celebrate [veterans'] service, but help remind Americans of the many challenges they face on and off the battlefield," HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler said.

Concert co-sponsor Starbucks says it plans to hire at least 10,000 veterans over the next five years.

"The Concert for Valor represents a significant and historic opportunity to demonstrate our country's potential to come," said Starbucks chairman and CEO Howard Schultz.
