Elderly Man Killed in Alexandria Shooting; Wife Charged With Murder

A woman has been charged with shooting and killing her elderly husband in Alexandria, Virginia, police say.

Rolf Marshall, 75, was shot at least once in the upper body on the 1100 block of Duke Street, in a townhouse near the Old Town neighborhood, police said in an update Wednesday night.

Marshall's wife, 47-year-old Paula Marshall, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Officers responded to the shooting about 10:45 a.m. and found Marshall suffering from a gunshot wound inside the house.

Marshall was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 11:30 a.m.

A man working on a house nearby said he heard shots.

"About 10:30, I was working here in the kitchen, because we are remodeling this house, and I heard about two gunshots," Edgar Aguilar said.
