DC Firefighter Convicted for Stealing Christian Louboutin Tennis Shoes at Gunpoint

A jury convicted a D.C. firefighter of stealing a pair of luxury shoes at gunpoint. Jackie Bensen reports.

A jury convicted a D.C. firefighter for stealing a pair of luxury tennis shoes at gunpoint last year.

A pair of Christian Louboutin that retail for $1,200 were advertised on the app Offer Up for just $700.

Davon Moore arranged to meet the seller Dec. 20 near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and East-West Highway in Silver Spring, Maryland, prosecutors said, but he only wanted to pay $400, which the seller refused.

So Moore pointed a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol at the man and robbed him and drove away, prosecutors said.

But the seller managed to get a picture of the license plate with his cellphone, leading detectives to Moore.

Moore faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors want online buyers and sellers to meet at safe trade locations.

“Our Montgomery County Police Department have parking lot areas that are reserved for people to conduct these kind of transactions so that there’s less risk of being held up at gunpoint for your money or your goods,” said Ramon Korionoff of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.

A D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman said Moore was put on administrative leave after his arrest. After his conviction, he faces a disciplinary hearing likely to result in his termination.
