DC Council Member Blames Jewish Financiers for Climate

D.C. Council member Trayon White made anti-Semitic remarks in a Facebook video. He later deleted the video and apologized. News4’s Derrick Ward reports.

A member of the D.C. Council has apologized after he promoted a conspiracy theory that accuses a prominent Jewish family of controlling the climate.

Ward 8 Council member Trayon White posted a video to his official Facebook page in which he said the Rothchild family manipulated the climate to make money. The video showed snow flurries in D.C. as White narrated.

“Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man. Y’all better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation,” he said, according to The Washington Post. “And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.”

White later took down the video and apologized.

“In response to the social media post made on Friday, as a leader I work hard everyday to combat racism and prejudices of all kinds. I want to apologize to the Jewish Community and anyone I have offended," he said.

"The Jewish community have been allies with me in my journey to help people. I did not intend to be Anti- Semitic, and I see I should not have said that after learning from my colleagues. I have spoke to leaders and my friends at Jews United for Justice and they are helping me to understand the history of comments made against Jews and I am committed to figuring out ways continue to be allies with them and others. With my deepest love," he continued.

The Rothchilds have long been the target of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
