A 15-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a 17-year-old boy in southeast D.C. in September.
The Washington Post reports that the teen, who was originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kevin Anthony Jackson II, pleaded guilty Wednesday in the District of Columbia Superior Court to involuntary manslaughter and a firearms charge.
A prosecutor said during Wednesday's hearing that on the day of the shooting, the teens got into an argument on a street. Jackson and his friends stayed in the area, while the 15-year-old left. He returned later with a handgun and shot Jackson.
Judge Jennifer Anderson ordered a mental health evaluation for the teen before a sentencing date is scheduled. He is in the custody of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation services and could face a maximum of six years of detainment.
