A child was flown to a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Fairfax County Tuesday evening.
The 8-year-old boy was struck and dragged several feet near Mt. Vernon Highway and Surrey Drive in the Mount Vernon area. The boy rode his bike into the street and the driver of an SUV could not avoid him, police said.
The boy is recovering.
The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged.
