An anonymous caller said a bomb was planted near the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown D.C., sources tell News4.
The call was received about 5:30 p.m. Police said they found no hazardous material, but the investigation continues.
"Obviously it's concerning when something like that happens, but we are going to continue our work as Metropolitan A.M.E. church," church spokesman Dakarai Aarons said.
Extra private security guards will patrol the 1518 M St. NW church this weekend, after the heinous attack Wednesday on a historic A.M.E. church in Charleston.
