The body of a man who had been missing nearly a week was found Friday in a popular park in Alexandria, Virginia.

Eduardo David Chandias Almendarez, 22, was found dead in Four Mile Run Park, Alexandria police said Friday evening, calling the death a homicide. Police said in an update Tuesday that Almendarez had been stabbed multiple times.

The Alexandria resident's body was found on a creek bed during a search of the park by Alexandria Police and the Fairfax County Police Search and Rescue Team.

Almendarez had last been seen in the park the evening of Saturday, Nov. 28. Police previously said he had "been a victim of a crime and may be endangered."

Another man was found dead in another park in Alexandria less than one month earlier. Jose Luis Ferman Perez, 24, was found dead Nov. 9 in Beverley Park, about a mile west of Four Mile Run Park.

The attack on Almendarez is the fourth homicide in Alexandria this year.

The investigation is ongoing. The cause and manner of Almendarez's death will be determined through an autopsy.
