Bicyclist Killed in DC Crash Involving 5 Cars

A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving five cars.

A bicyclist was killed in a crash involving five vehicles at 2nd Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

Police say the bicyclist and a Kia Sorrento were both headed westbound when they were struck simultaneously by a 2020 Honda Civic that was also headed west, police say.

The initial collision appeared to cause a chain reaction: The Kia struck a Ford Van in the intersection and the Honda hit a Dodge Durango, police say. The Ford and Dodge had been traveling north.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the crash about 7:30 p.m.

The man riding the bike was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Honda and the Ford's passenger and driver were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

Several of blocks of Massachusetts Avenue were closed.
