An off-duty Baltimore City Police Department detective was killed on Saturday night in a dispute over a parking space.
The Associated Press reported that a preliminary police investigation has revealed that a suspect struck the off-duty officer with a large rock or piece of concrete.
Detective Brian Stevenson, an 18-year-veteran, was celebrating with a friend for his birthday on Sunday. He would have turned 38 today.
After sustaining head trauma, Stevenson was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he later died.
The suspects, described as a man and a woman, fled the scene. Interviews with witnesses on the scene led investigators to "people of interest," who were taken into custody, according to the Associated Press.
Police said Sian James, 25, threw the rock or piece of concrete that struck Stevenson. James was ordered held without bond Monday morning. He has no previous convictions but was indicted on an attempted rape charge in July and was out on $150,000 bond.
