Army Flight Training Planned in Washington Area

The Army says it's conducting helicopter flight training in the Washington area, including the I-95 corridor south of the city.

Officials say the one-hour exercise Wednesday morning is the12th Aviation Battalion's final flight with its current lineup of UH-72 Lakota and VH-60A Blackhawk helicopters. The aircraft will then be sent to Fort Rucker, Ala., and Army museums.

They are being replaced with UH-60L Blackhawk helicopters.

The battalion is based at Davison Army Airfield at Fort Belvoir, Va.,

The exercise route also includes the Potomac River, Fort Washington, Hains Point and the Tidal Basin.
