An armed security guard shot and wounded a woman inside a 7-Eleven store in Northeast D.C. on Thursday evening, police say.
The shooting occurred at the location in the 4800 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE.
Chanel Clinton, who is a D.C. special police officer, shot a friend amid a dispute in the store, according to court documents. The victim told police a “girls trip to Houston” fell apart after Clinton made threats to shoot everyone in a group chat made to plan the trip.
A police sergeant who was in the store buying food witnessed the dispute escalate to a fight and separated the two women when Clinton allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her friend in the arm, court documents said.

The shooting had nothing to do with Clinton's role as a special police officer, police said.
Officers and emergency crews were called to the store just before 6 p.m. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Clinton is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. She was ordered held without bond through the weekend and is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
