Police officers and firefighters in Maryland were awarded for their heroic efforts in the line of duty at a ceremony Thursday night at the American Legion post in Laurel, Md.
Among those recognized were from the Maryland State Police, Laurel Police, Prince George's County Police as well as fire stations in Prince George's County and Maryland City.
Former Laurel Police Chief Roy Gilmore hosted the annual event.
