Authorities arrested a U.S. Air Force reserve major in southwest D.C. Thursday on child pornography charges.
David Riley, 37, appeared in D.C. Superior Court Friday. He is accused of sending images online to an undercover police officer.
The officer found Riley by placing an ad on Craigslist, authorities said. Beginning in December, Riley allegedly sent eight extremely graphic images of children involved in sexual acts.
D.C. police, the FBI and the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations arrested Riley at Fort McNair. Riley is assigned to U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Fla., but was at Fort McNair to take a national security course at the National Defense University.
If convicted, Riley faces five to 20 years in prison.
