Howard County police charged a third teenager in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy.
A 15-year-old boy from Hyattsville, Maryland, is charged as an adult with murder and assault in the drug-related killing of Xavier Young, police said.
Luis Gerardo Ordonez, 19, and 16-year-old Francisco J. Rodriguez, both of Laurel, previously were charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and firearms violations. Rodriguez is charged as an adult.
Investigators believe Young, Ordonez, Rodriguez, the 15-year-old suspect and a few other teens were involved in coordinating a drug deal in the 9000 block of N. Laurel Road Oct. 28, but when those involved met at the agreed upon location about 11 p.m., an altercation erupted and a shot was fired from a car window, hitting Young, who was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Ordonez and Rodriguez were taken into custody Monday after being spotted in Ellicott City. Both suspects originally were charged with attempted murder, but that will be changed to murder charges for both men after Young died Monday as a result of his injuries.
Police arrested the 15-year-old suspect Thursday in Prince George's County.
The suspects are being held without bond.
