A father and son found dead inside an apartment in Northeast D.C. Friday night were both shot in the head, police say.
Ahkii Washington-Scruggs, 17, and his father, 57-year-old Hugh Washington, were found dead in Washington's apartment in the 1100 block of Queen Street NE near Kendall Demonstration Elementary School, police said.
A relative found their bodies and called police around 5:45 p.m.
There was no sign of forced entry at the apartment and no weapon was found at the scene, according to a police report.
"Right now we don't have any suspect information, that's why we're asking the public to report anything that they've seen suspicious," D.C. police patrol Chief Lamar Greene said.
"I'm hurt. I'm in a lot of pain right now," Elizabeth Scruggs, Ahkii's mother, said Friday.
Ahkil was a student at Dunbar High School where he played football, neighbors said. He was a good, well-liked teen, Elizabeth said.

"My son, all he did was go to school and play football, so I'm not understanding why anybody would do this to him," she said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
"He played football. He was excelling in school. He didn't deserve to die like this," Elizabeth said.
