Employees at a news talk radio station and a music station in D.C.'s Friendship Heights neighborhood can go back into their officers after police cleared an investigation into a suspicious package.
D.C. police responded to the building at 4400 Jenifer Street NW just after 4 p.m. Thursday and blocked off 44th Street NW at Jenifer Street NW as they investigated.
The offices for talk radio station WMAL and popular music station mix107.3 are in the building.
Police said they gave the "all clear" at about 5:45 p.m.
"Suspicious package received at mix107.3 building. The building has been evacuated. Police and fire are on scene. As soon as the all clear is given, Jason Kidd will be back on air but for now enjoy commercial free music on mix107.3," the radio station tweeted earlier.
Larry O'Connor, who hosts a show for WMAL, tweeted a photo of police blocking off the street. O'Connor said he saw the package and it did not look like the suspicious packages sent to high-profile Democrats such as former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on Wednesday.
"Though it does not look like the other packages we have seen the past day or two, there were some similarities. DC police examined it and immediately ordered full evacuation," O'Conner tweeted.
O'Conner also said the package was addressed to some of WMAL's hosts
"Coincidentally, GOP candidate for #VASen @CoreyStewartVA was at @WMALDC when the evacuation was ordered. But there is absolutely no connection," O'Conner said.
The incident comes after several PVC pipe bombs were sent to several high-profile critics of President Donald Trump and the New York City offices of CNN Wednesday, less than two weeks before the midterm elections.
On Thursday, investigators seized three more suspected package explosives —two addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden in Delaware and one addressed to Robert De Niro in New York.
WMAL airs conservative talk shows including the Rush Limbaugh show.
