The Navy Sea Systems Command will reveal the $63 million renovation of Navy Yard Building 197, 16 months after a lone gunman opened fire, killing 12 people.
A ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. next Monday, and will include the introduction of a remembrance area inside the new building honoring those who lost their lives.
According to Naval Sea Systems Command, 400 human resources employees will be up first to move into the new building, followed by another 400 employees each week until the entire 4,000-person staff has returned.
Employees too traumatized to return to the building will be accommodated in other offices.
