4 Men Killed in Two Separate Shootings in DC: Police

Anyone with information about either of the crimes is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department

NBC Universal, Inc. News4’s Mauricio Casillas reports on the two double homicides that took place in D.C.

Four men were shot and killed in Washington, D.C., on Sunday in two separate shootings, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The first double fatal shooting happened about 1:19 p.m. in the 3300 block of D Street SE, police said. The victims were found shot inside of a residence.

Shortly after, a person of interest who knew the victims was apprehended, authorities said. A weapon was recovered at that scene.

Just two hours later, another double shooting was reported in the 5200 block of Sheriff Road NE. Two men were also killed there.

"We believe that this particular event is targeted, in that the two individuals were standing out in front of the courtyard," Assistant Police Chief Andre Wright said. "We are obviously talking to all of the community residents door-to-door, trying to glean any information. Obviously we're following up with cameras as well, and as soon as we can get any images, we'll put them out to you all as soon as we possibly can."

Authorities did not immediately share suspect information in that shooting.

It was a violent weekend in the D.C. area. On Saturday night, a man was killed in Southwest D.C. near Audi Field, where D.C. United’s opening game was being played. That morning, three others were shot in separate but connected shootings in Southeast, authorities said.

"This must not stand. This is a great city, a great District, and we're not about to turn over our freedoms or our safety or the safety of our loved ones... over a few bad actors that think that they can just do what they want to," Wright said about the gun violence. "That's not going to happen."
