16-year-old girl killed in stabbing at McDonald's in Northwest DC, suspect arrested

Another 16-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder while armed

A 16-year-old girl is dead after being stabbed at a McDonaldโ€™s in Northwest D.C. early Sunday. Another teenage girl has been arrested and charged, police say.

The victim was identified as Naima Liggon, of Waldorf, Maryland. Initial reports said she was 16 and later 17, but her mother confirmed that she was in fact 16 years old to News4's Derrick Ward.

Officers went to a hospital for reports of a young female who had been stabbed at about 2:10 a.m., according to a release from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Liggon was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle. After life-saving efforts, she died from her injuries, police said.

After an initial investigation, police believe the stabbing occurred both inside and outside of the McDonaldโ€™s in the 1900 block of 14th Street NW.

The McDonald's is located at the corner of U Street and is open 24 hours a day. U Street is an area known for nightlife. Bars close in the District at 2 a.m.

Naima was a student at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf. Her mother said she was an amazing daughter, sister and friend.
