16-Year-Old Boy Charged in Southeast DC Killing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Southeast D.C. 

Carl Hardy was shot on I Street SE, near the Potomac Gardens housing complex, on Sept. 10. Three weeks later, he died of his injuries. 

D.C. police announced on Thursday that Saquan Williams was arrested and has been charged with first-degree murder. 

Police responded about 5:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 to the sound of gunshots on the 1200 block of I Street SE. 

When they arrived, they found Hardy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Video previously distributed by police shows three people running and getting into a black sedan as it speeds away.

Medics took Hardy to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Then, exactly three weeks later on Oct. 1, the 24-year-old died. 

Hardy was killed on the same block as Breyona McMillian, the 16-year-old girl who shot the day after Thanksgiving 2016 as she was home to visit her mother.
