12-Year-Old Boy Caught Driving Stolen Car, Police Say

A 12-year-old boy was arrested Monday night after police caught him driving a stolen car in Annapolis, Maryland, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of Great Bay Avenue and Atwater Drive at about 8:45 p.m. for a report of a child driving a vehicle. Police arrested the boy for driving without a license.

A 14-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was not arrested.

At the time of the 12-year-old's arrest, police could not find the owner of the car. But at 11:20 p.m., they received a call about a stolen vehicle. The car's owner told police that she parked her car in the 1800 block of Copeland Street, leaving it unlocked with the key inside the glove compartment.

Police say both boys will be cited for motor vehicle theft.
