A man was shot in the face in the bathroom of a busy McDonald's restaurant in downtown Washington, D.C., Friday afternoon, police say.
The shooting just after noon at the restaurant next to the Verizon Center sent the lunch crowd scattering.
The shooter and the victim had some sort of "interaction" prior to the shooting, police said. Investigators believe the shooting was not random.
"It appears the victim did know at least one of the suspects," Metropolitan Police Department Cmdr. Robert Alder said. "It does not appear to be a random act."
Police have surveillance images of three persons of interest standing at the bathroom door.
Two men went to the victim's aid. One grabbed napkins to try to stop the bleeding, and another took off his shirt and put it around the victim's head where he had been shot.
The victim is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made at this time.
"I'm shocked because I come around here for lunch and this is the last thing you want is this type of activity to happen," said Jay Chisolm, who works nearby.
