Teen Killed in Southeast

A teen was killed in front of his brother after they walked to get snacks in Southeast.

Metro Police Department officers say that 16-year-old Anthony Barnes of Capitol Heights, Md., was shot and killed in Southeast.

Police arrived just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the 2100 block of Fairlawn Avenue SE to find that Barnes had been shot. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Anthony was visiting his brother. They had just gone to a gas station to get snacks when they were encountered by two people -- one had a gun and the other grabbed Anthony, NBC4's Pat Collins reported.

Police said there is nothing in Anthony's history that indicates he would be targeted.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case.
