ELLICOTT CITY, Md. -- A Mt. Hebron High School teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student for two years.
Robert Douglas Johnson, 61, is charged with sexual abuse of a minor, third- and fourth-degree sex offenses, and obscene telephone misuse, according to the Howard County Police Department. He turned himself in to police Monday night.
A school official notified police after receiving an e-mail containing copies of e-mail exchanges between Johnson and a 17-year-old girl. The exchanges did not include sexual references but indicated a close relationship between the teacher and student, police said.
Johnson is suspected of sexually abusing the girl inside the school beginning when she was 15, police said.
He is being held on $350,000 bond.
