Oprah To Bring Show To D.C. was originally published on City Desk on Dec. 04, 2008, at 11:15 am
Oprah(!) has announced that she will be taping her show in the District during inauguration week. At least one show will be taped at the Kennedy Center. What, the 9:30 Club isn’t good enough? The New York Times writes:
“John Dow, a spokesman for the Kennedy Center, confirmed that Ms. Winfrey would be taping a live broadcast of the program from the iconic performing arts complex’s opera house on Jan. 19. Another show is planned for Wednesday though Harpo said the details were still being worked out.
Information about how to get tickets will be posted on Oprah.com next week.”
No word yet on which lucky resident will be getting an Oprah-style home makeover. Who wants to bet Michelle Rhee will be interviewed? Who wants to bet there will be major handwringing among statehood activists (OK, all of us) about how to get Oprah to cover the issue?
The Times goes on report:
“No word yet on who might be making guest appearances on the show when it comes to D.C., including whether the new president will make time to sit on Oprah’s couch that week.”
