Not all turkeys will get the axe this year -- President Barack Obama is slated to pardon the National Thanksgiving Turkey this Wednesday, Nov. 23, during a ceremony in the Rose Garden.
The turkey and its alternate (who will also be pardoned -- second place isn't always bad!) were raised on AgForte farm in Willmar, Minn.
After the ceremony, the turkeys will take a little road trip to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, where they'll be on display for visitors during Christmas at Mount Vernon, through Jan. 6.
When the holidays end, the turkeys will retire in style, living in a custom-made enclosure at Mount Vernon's posh livestock facility.
Last year's turkey's spent the night prior to the pardoning at the W Hotel -- no word on whether this year's pair will have a similarly schmancy redezvous.
