The National Zoo is opening its gates in the evenings this month for the ZooLights holiday light display.
The festival featuring light sculptures of the zoo's animals began Friday. It will be open on weekend nights through Dec. 13 and every night between Dec. 18 through Jan. 2, except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. And except tonight, because of the weather.
The event also includes musicians, talks by animal keepers and costumed characters.
Tickets are $8 or $5 for zoo members.
