Fox Atomic Disarmed

Fox Atomic is closing its doors just two years after its 2007 launch, Variety reported.

The genre studio, which fielded films including "The Rocker," Miss March," "28 Weeks Later" and "The Hills Have Eyes II," has had little success at the box office with its low-budget projects.

According to Variety, studio head Debbie Liebling will return to 20th Century Fox, though Fox would not confirm the move to the trade magazine.

The studio was hoping to better its recent efforts with the July 10 release of the Hayden Panettiere-starring "I Love You, Beth Cooper" and Oscar-winning "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody's follow-up, "Jennifer's Body," which is due on September 18. Those films will now be distributed by 20th Century Fox.
