A young man from D.C. died after jumping out of a 16-story window at a college dorm Thursday night, according to police.
Marquis Brown, a sophomore at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh played football at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. His former teammates remember him as a leader who would brighten your day.
Evan Brooks remembers Brown’s infectious personality and the laughter they shared.
“Just a great person,” he said. “Someone who could light up the mood, light up your day. Someone who’s going to give it his all on and off the field.”
Brown’s death is putting his high school’s motto — “One DeMatha” — to the test
“We’re a really, really tight brotherhood, so whenever tragedy strikes, we definitely just gather around and everybody puts ‘One DeMatha’ and just has each other’s back,” Brooks said.
Police in Pittsburgh say the investigation into Brown’s death continues.
