PRINCE ANNE, Md. (AP) — Rashaun Madison scored 18 points to lead North Carolina Central to its 10 win in a row with an 83-69 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.
The win ensures NC Central will make it through the day in first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings, with Norfolk State following closely behind.
All of Madison’s points came from behind the 3-point arc. Patrick Cole scored 17 points for NC Central (19-6, 10-1), while Del’vin Dickerson and Dajuan Graf each added 15. The Eagles shot 55 percent, made 18 free throws, and hit 10 3-pointers.
Maryland-Eastern Shore held a slim halftime lead before falling off in the second. A 3-pointer by Madison eight seconds into the half gave the Eagles a 36-35 lead which they held the rest of the way. A Cole 3 pushed the lead past double digits, 51-40, and NC Central cruised to the finish.
Dontae Caldwell led the Hawks (9-18, 6-6) with 19 points.
